Cohesive Event 10/09/2009

Had a cohesive event with my second batch of trainees (Eric, Justin, Andrew and Aik  Seah).  The activities planned were back to back.  We kicked off the day with Bowling at Marina Square after breakfast at McDonald's.

It's been some time since I last bowled.  It was fun bowling with the boys as they were very good at it.

We went to K-Box after bowling to let our hair down.  I didn't realize they love singing so much and Justin sounded so professional.  They were definitely big fans of Jay Chou.  Jay Chou's songs in my opinion were difficult to sing as he always use different techniques for each songs.

Had brunch at Hotpot Culture, the food was below average though.  It was made up by having a game of number guessing.  Five of us will contribute to something into a bowl where the "loser" who "guessed" the number will have to finish what's in the bowl.  Marshmallows which melted in hot soup tasted terrible.

The day ended after we proceeded to Suntec to the COMEX.  Justin and Andrew bought a new PC each.

It was a splendid cosy day well-spent with the guys.

Beauty Regime 1

Do you have any skin care products you swear by?

With the various types of skin care products available, I found the newly launched O2 Bubble-Mask by Follow Me pretty impressive.  Follow Me been in the market for many years already.

After cleansing your face, apply O2 Bubble-Mask evenly and "miraculously" bubbles will form.  Rinse face with warm water after leaving it on for 5-10 mins.  Rich papaya extract gently exfoliates dead skin.  Skin will feel more supple and smooth after using.

 Apply a thin layer

Bubbles start to form

What is your skin care regime?

Been a busy Aug 09 for me as there were a number of events I participated.  Went to Jurong Bird Park, participated AHM (though only 6km) and lastly NDP AFC 2009.

Kesler, Ivan, J'den and I went to Jurong Bird Park on 15 Aug 09.  It had been ages since I last went to Jurong Bird Park.  There were many changes but I can hardly remember as I last went when I was in Primary school.  Let the pictures do the talking.

Food Glorious Food - Silk Road Restaurant 11 Jul 2009

Went to Sentosa with J'den and had a sumptuous meal at Silk Road Restaurant near Palawan Beach (Beach Carpark).

The food was simply wonderful so was the excellent service. The staff were courteous and friendly and this made the dinner even more enjoyable. Had signature dishes like Pumpskin soup, chilli crabs...

Night Safari

Backdate entry on 26 Jun 2009. Joined a group of friends to Night Safari. It's a promotion that the zoo had where visitors cut out a coupon from the papers to gain access with 50% off. It was a good deal as none of us been to the night safari. No pictures on the animals as it was prohibited as it would cause alarm to them.

Like this song by S.H.E alot.

Another info media on TV which I guess seen by many.

Pefection within the imperfections. Do you love your loved ones because they are perfect? Or because they are perfectly imperfect?

Birthday Celebration

How time flies, it one year after I got my licence. It's a great feeling though time wait for no one. Sent my car in for some re-spray to cover the marks made by some idiot for didn't turn properly and brushed against my bumper some time ago. It was a great job done by the workshop as my car looked new again.

Celebrated my birthday with Ivan, Kesler and J'den. Thanks for the pressies.

Ivan's New Car

Ivan got his new car last Saturday and I got to take a ride on it. He had bought the new Honda Jazz. Interior wise, he got the luxury version. Found many mug shaped holder inside, I guess it meant for driver and passengers to enjoy their drinks while on the move. Besides that, the new slicker outlook and no spoiler, the car is quite similar to mine.

It's funny how Ivan tried to get familiar with his new car. Though with many years of experiences, he still need a little time to get used to driving a smaller car. Performance wise for Jazz is still good.

Monuments

It's been some time since I last blog about something. After a long hiatus, I am penning this down as I found it rather meaningful. A National Education been scheduled for Total Defence to allow the instructors and trainees to visit some of the monuments that tribute lives sacrificed during the Second World War.

Looking at some of the images, let’s recall the background behind these monuments.

Tan Kim Seng Fountain created in memorial to Mr Tan Kim Seng. A philanthropist, he had donated generous sum of money to construct a system to provide piped water to town.

The Cenotaph was erected in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in First World War. It was decided after Second World War, the memorial should also remember those who sacrificed their lives too.

In remembrance of war hero Mr Lim Bo Seng, the monument, Lim Bo Seng Memorial was built. He sacrificed his life to protect his fellow comrades from being captured by the Japanese Army.

Lastly, the Civilian War Memorial is dedicated to those who perished during the Japanese Occupation. The four pillars rise to pinnacle of 92.5 metres symbolized shared experiences by the four major races. Remains of unidentified war victims were buried beneath the monument.

There was also a guest presenter who shared something that do trigger my mind on how pampered we are now. He did mention on why people no longer find it meaningful to celebrate Chinese New Year. It is true that when I was young, I do look forward to CNY as it’s only during that period I do get to have a sumptuous meal. Even for soft drinks, I do get to drink it to my heart fulfill. Yes, indeed, our lives are better and we can get new clothes any time when we only get to do so before its CNY.

Signing off.

GPS

Friends who took my car know I am pretty bad at navigating. No matter how I prepare myself by checking the road directory before leaving the house, I still get lost. My passengers will get all the nonsense from me. Ok, I am really very bad. :P

Instead of screaming at my poor passengers for not directing me or advising me in advance on the right direction, I bought a Global Positioning System (GPS).
The Packard Bell Compasseo 370 served it's basic purpose of a GPS unit. It can direct me to the correct course to take and warn me of any ERP gantries and traffic cameras ahead. The after service of Packard Bell is pretty lousy. I have sent an email on some queries I have but till now I still did not get a reply. No wonder on the website forum of Packard Bell people complaint that the service is really bad. They better pull their socks up before they lose their market space.

Self Indulgence

Got myself this recently to pamper myself. I always like rings and watches and this added to my collection.

Read someone's blog and got me thinking whether one can be friends with their exs. Do you feel randour with him/her. That's one question many may face at one point of time in their lives. When a couple broke up, where do the love go? Do people still lock in their bitter cold war after their break-up? With the increasing divorce rate, do one still believe love can last forever? when one person suggest to break-up, where has the love gone to? Does it go to the new relationship? Every relationship is different and so does the love. I am pretty contented with my life. Just got alittle emo after reading someone's blog. Hope everyone will cherish their family, friends, and their love ones and don't let go easily. :)

Activities

Had Cohesive Day with my colleagues and trainees at Bishan Park for prawn catching. Did not try it but glad to see all the trainees having fun trying to use the fishing rod to catch those prawns. Had BBQ for breakfast followed by a light buffet. Simple way to end the Friday morning. Took a pic with my students.

Dinner was sinful with J'den, Ivan and Kesler at Ikoi at Hotel Mirama. No picture as I didn't bring it with me.

On Saturday, I went to the Botanical Gardens. It's another good feeling going to these places instead of shopping malls all the time. Let the pictures do the talking.

Random Babbling

Had a ship dinner on last Friday with former shipcrew at Paramount Hotel. The shopping center below was kind of sleazy as there were scantily dressed women around. Nonetheless, the poolside cafe made up for it though the buffet was ok. Had received the Best Ship plaque from my former boss.

Went to South Ridge Sunday and the view was great. Been some time since I had such as breeze walk and I enjoyed the view.

Strike A Pose

Never really take a pic of me and my "Jazzical". Given my car a name, Jazzical, corny by just a simple name made up by it's model name.

Me on my way to clean my car. It's my weekly routine to keep her clean.

Striking a pose with "Jazzical".

My permanent passengers onboard given by J'den, two cute stuff toys taking the backseats. I had 3 TY bears and Tiga at the back. Me being a child at heart. :P

First Servicing

I went for my 1st car servicing last Mon, the arrangement was find and it took me less than 4 hrs to get it done. The disappointment was the cleaning of my car although free of charge by Kah Motors was a tad disappointing. I found edges not clean and there's still dirt on it. Why I know? I had cleaned it a day before. Complaint to my agent on the dissatifactory service. Told him I clean even better than the FOC cleaning. I had requested for no strong detergent but just plain water as I had coat my car with a paint protection. Not wanting any harsh treatment, I opt for just water and yet, it's not a good job. Saw the new Jazz, it don't look good to me. Too weird edges, no regret getting this version.

Talking about cleaning the car, it can be an arduous task. Every week, I have to clean the car as there's construction going on at my workplace and all the sand dust just irritates me. I took at least 2 hours to clean and vacuum the car. Enough on cleaning but I realize on the road there are damn lousy drivers who don't check. There's one Ang Mo woman who tried to change lane and never check, I managed to avoid her. The stupid woman had no guts and avoid looking at me near the traffic junction when we met again. Hello, how the hell you get your licence??? Enough of my complaint, guess I still don't have much to blog about. Just busy with work. Have a good weekend.

My Car

The feeling of getting my very own car is good though the increase in fuel prices recently did create some sort of hesitation. Nonetheless, life still go on no matter what. I had alittle spin and I drove to work the next day. Still trying to get more familiar with my car as I have yet got the feel of it. Taken some pics of my car. Here goes.

Random Babbling

Been on a hiatus for some time, alive and kicking. Haha. Life being mundane and I have nothing to blog about.
Just some stuff that happened last week. My former unit was awarded the best ship in the fleet. I was invited to dinner with the former crew and it's was nice to see similar faces. Was presented with a plaque to commemorate the service onboard.
Received a phone call from car agent that my car arrived. Done some administrative stuff and I guess my car be ready by end of the month. It's much earlier than expected.
Will be busy in the coming weeks as I prepare for some coaching courses and coming lessons. Need to get some presentation slides ready soon.
Will stop here. Till I have something interesting to blog about, take care everyone.

Song To Recommend

A pretty nice song, enjoy...

Leona Lewis' Better In Time

Lyrics

It's been the longest winter without you
I didn't know where to turn to
See somehow I can't forget you
After all that we've been through
Going coming thought I heard a knock
Who's there no one
Thinking that I deserve it
Now I realise that I really didn't know
If you didn't notice you mean everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gon' be ok

[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
I couldn't turn on the TV
Without something there to remind me
Was it all that easy
To just put aside your feelings
If I'm dreaming don't wanna laugh
Hurt my feelings but that's the path
I believe in And I know that time will heal it
If you didn't notice boy you meant everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gon' be ok

[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time
Since there's no more you and me
It's time I let you go So I can be free
And live my life how it should be
No matter how hard it is I'll be fine without you
Yes I will

[Chorus: X2]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time

COE Bidding Result

Received a good news from my car agent that my COE bid was successful.  I opt for 4 bids non-guaranteed COE at $15000, and today's 1st open bidding result was at QP $16930.  Just glad I didn't pay more for it.
